Hollywood's Westlake Theatre

The project revitalizes the historic Westlake Theatre by transforming it into a film music score archive and performance space that bridges past and present. It preserves the original structure while integrating a new addition, connected via circulation paths inspired by the theatre’s iconic arches and wrapping around a central amphitheater.

The existing theatre hosts film screenings with live orchestral performances and houses the archival collections. The new extension, clad in glass fiber reinforced concrete with a metal support system, offers visual access to the amphitheater and invites public interaction.

Public engagement is central to the design, with amenities such as an outdoor café patio for watching performances, a library with archival access, and a gallery. The entire complex offers a dynamic, immersive experience blending architectural preservation with contemporary cultural programming.
