Marina Del Rey Group
This project, situated along Ballona Creek in Marina del Rey, was developed in collaboration with a fellow classmate. It envisions a research facility dedicated to preserving the local wetlands and bay area, while also inviting community engagement through an integrated gallery and direct interaction with the wetlands.
Our proposal centers on creating a space that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the natural environment. The design draws inspiration from the Black Pepper Trees found in the surrounding wetlands. The distinctive form of the trees’ leaves informed the creation of a protective, hermetic structure that encloses a man-made wetland within the facility, blending natural elements with architectural expression.
